This is the first installation of the pedal-powered animation device, also featured in The Garden of Forking Paths.
When pedaled, the machine displays the generation and destruction of an ink drawing of itself. Over the progression of the first 100 pages, the drawing grows in complexity, then chaos, then reverses its growth. Over the last 100 pages, the drawn progression runs in reverse, shrinking and simplifying, only to start its growth again.
